Etretat is a place to visit as an exceptional natural site where the spectacle of the cliffs carved in openings,
needles and pinnacles will take your breath away. Formerly a fishing village, Etretat is transformed into
a resort in the nineteenth century and became a place of inspiration for artists (G. Courbet, C. Monet,
E. Boudin, C. Corot, J. Offenbach, J. Massenet…), writers (A. Karr, V. Hugo, A. Gide, G. de Maupassant, M. Leblanc…)
and important persons (J. Michelet, F. Faure, R. Coty, des Reines d’Espagne, J. Bonaparte…).
Our grand father, Emile Mauge, as an architect, built the two remarkable sites of the market hall as well as
the "Salamandre" building.
